Dr. Ming-Dong Li earned a Medical Degree and Ph.D. in Chinese Internal Medicine from Heilongjiang University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1982 and 2002, respectively. He completed a five-year residency program at Shanghai Yu-Dian Hospital, while spending two years studying Tuina from Dr. Da-Fang Yu, a renowned professor at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine with specialty in the treatment of traumatic injuries with Tuina.

Dr. Li has over thirty-two years of experience in clinical practice as well as teaching various topics of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in China and the United States. He is the author of Chinese Internal Medicine, which was published by People’s Medical Publishing House in September 2013. This is considered to be the most in-depth Chinese internal medicine textbook available in English to date.

With a passion for education, Dr. Li is currently practicing and teaching at UCLA Center for East-West Medicine. Concurrently, he is a professor teaching Chinese internal medicine, Tuina, Tai Chi, and Qi-Gong at Yo San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine; and Alhambra Medical University. He was the chair of Chinese Internal Medicine Department; clinical director at Royal University; associate dean at SAMRA University; and dean of Clinical Education at Dongguk University. He formerly held a position as the board director of the California Acupuncture Medical Association (CAMA) from 1993 to 2001. He is currently a senior advisor to the association. In November 2011, Dr. Li was honored by his election to the Executive Committee for Chinese Internal Medicine of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS).

In addition to his professional and academic work, Dr. Li is an avid practitioner of Tai Chi. He has earned twenty-six gold medals in different national and international competitions. Most recently, in 2012, he won five gold medals along with the title of Grand Champion at The International Chinese Martial Arts Championship held in Denver, Colorado.
