To commemorate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death, Malcolm Taw, MD, Associate Clinical Professor and Director at the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine at Westlake Village, spoke on an Integrative East-West Approach to Dermatologic Conditions, quoting from Shakespeare’s major works.
The presentation included:
- A brief overview of a holistic perspective versus a reductionist perspective in medicine during the 19th – 20th century and the development of integrative medicine
- TCM integrative approach to dermatological conditions
- The mind-skin connection similar to the brain-gut connection
- Acupuncture points and 5 case studies
