UCLA Center for East-West Medicine (CEWM) offers two distinct two-year junior faculty-level fellowship tracks on integrative medicine – East-West Subspecialty Consultative and East-West Primary Care. The program is designed to train physicians who recently completed internal and family medicine residency to become outstanding academic leaders, clinicians and teachers within the field of integrative health. Graduates will be equipped to integrate their prior western biomedical training with traditional Chinese medicine and integrative health principles to evaluate and care for a wide range of patient conditions regardless of illness severity or comorbidities. This expertise will be applied across both settings of primary care and subspecialty practice, and will help broaden the available toolkit of the practicing physician and evolving healer.
Why train with us at CEWM?
We are one of the longest running and largest academic integrative medicine training programs in the nation with over 25 years of experience and >30,000 patient visits annually. Our clinical approach blends the best of modern Western medicine, integrative medicine and traditional Chinese medicine to care for patients who are often deeply suffering with chronic illness, and have often exhausted mainstream medical management. We have a patient-centered, holistic, and problem-solving approach to care that is firmly rooted into the fabric of UCLA Health.
Benefits of the Fellowship:
- Training and mentorship from our CEWM expert team of faculty and clinicians
- Training and certification in physician acupuncture
- Opportunities for teaching medical trainees, research & academic scholarship
- Upon completion, you will be qualified to take the Integrative Medicine Board Certification through the American Board of Integrative Medicine (ABOIM).
